I’ve been watching Roadkill recently, for the first time (I’ve really been enjoying it), when I got to ep. 43. Apparently they dropped the General Mayhem at Diversified Creation...in Brighton, Michigan. I just got back from Brighton moments ago, it’s only the next town over.
Even weirder, I looked it up on Google, it’s across the street from the Salvation Army store. It's so weird knowing the General was so close to me.....

Saw it in person at Power Tour and every little detail down to the interior bits is every bit as cool as you’d think!

how is that area?

Pretty decent. It’s roughly at the border of Howell and Brighton, so I’m surprised that it’s a Brighton address. Most everything you need is off of Grand River (which is what the shop is off of), everything north and south of it is practically farm country.

I gonna have to keep up with where these guys are. I'd love too see these cars as well.

This job I’m applying for is up in new hudson, in that area I think. Trying to get a gauge if it’s a good area for the family first. any information you have would help a lot!

How close is that to Lansing?

Cool! I can never decide if I like the General Mayhem or the Muscle Truck better.

Muscle truck. I loved Mayhem pre-Hellcat. It was just so much cooler as a driveway-built car with a motor home 440. Maybe it’s the fact that the swap was outsourced... Still an awesome car, though, and David Freiberger is my spirit animal.

I had the same reaction. Was actually at the car dealership across the street and was like “Hey! That’s where that is!”.

Never heard of New Hudson until you mentioned it, lol. It seems like a quaint town, haha. Brighton is pretty populated, at least for this area. I admittedly know more about Howell then Brighton. Though Brighton does have a lot of unique stores, and most of the big named ones (Petsmart, Meijer, Target, but surprisingly not Walmart?). Brighton also has a nice theater, one of the bigger ones around. Brighton also has a nice park (my neighbor and I head there for Pokemon hunting, it’s a fantastic place around a river, with a bunch of ducks, and a nice looking playground too). I’m not sure if it’s your thing, but I’ll mention it anyways, I’ve only visited the Nazarene church there. It’s a big church, which isn’t my thing ( I prefer smaller and more personal), but they do have a indoor skate park last I heard. There also a state park there, but I’m not sure where. One of the neighbors kids worked there over the summer. With a bike path as well I think.
Howell is a great area as well. What you can’t find in Brighton you can find in Howell; these two are the biggest towns in Livingston county. I live to the far west of Howell.
I know very little about the schools here. I know people have issues with the Fowlerville schools (west to east it goes Fowlerville, Howell, Brighton). I work with the teens at church and half of them are home schooled for one reason or another.
Now this next part is weird, but MrsZtp thought I should mention it. Livingston county once had a reputation as being associated with the KKK, namely just Howell. 12 miles north of Howell is Cohoctah Twnshp (a blink and you miss it town), which is where the Grand Dragon of the KKK Michigan chapter had his farm and lived. He’s passed in ‘92 (?). I have never seen or heard anything racist living here the pass two years., I just ‘hear’ things, namely only the stuff that makes the news. I do think most of it has been gradually taken out, and it’s usually those random older folks who are the issues. But I’m white, so idk.
I’ve been in the Howell area for two years now, and for the first 19 years of my life (I’m 29 now....I think) my parents camped in an RV in the Howell area, so I practically grew up out here during the summer. Where I am in Howell, I absolutely love it. Great neighbors, great area, great local church too.
That’s all I can think of right now, lol. There’s more knowledge up there, but I can’t recall any of it. For the car culture we have two nearby junkyards, and a general lee look alike that’s nearby. Lol.
If you need any more info, just ask!

Hmmm, from where I live (since I commute to Lansing every day) it’s about 40 minutes. So maybe about an hour? Google says its 43 minutes, which I'm confident it's lying to me. 127 is horrible, lol.

The general just has a “I don’t care” attitude...which I love, :).

The one next to Salvation Army? I’ve wondered if they sold cars, lol. They had cars there, but whenever I drive by I never saw a sign that said they sold them. Wasn't sure if it was employees cars, lol.

I love that too, but I think you could say the same about the Muscle Truck ... I just can’t pick.

Sweet! That’s mostly manageable I think...

To be honest I have no idea. I just always assumed it was a dealership. Come to think of it, I’ve actually never seen price tags or anything there lol
![]() 09/03/2016 at 13:32 |

You from the Lansing area then?
![]() 09/03/2016 at 13:37 |

This area keeps having new, private dealerships show up. We recently got one in Howell that tailors to first car buyers. But the prices are...not what first car buyers can afford. Not with their jobs, lol.
So wait, are you local to Brighton, or the area? As far as I know, the closest oppo is Montegoman, who's an hour away I believe.

Yeah, there’s definitely a ton of dealership potential around those parts. I’m always astounded by the size of Brighton Ford whenever I go over there.
Yeah, I’m pretty local to these parts. I’m probably about 30 mins from Brighton. I’m pretty close to Fenton, if you know where that is.

Going to college there

MSU probably, unless it’s one of those smaller colleges that are scattered about in Lansing.
I actually know a freshman and a sophomore going there, just started this past week. I was planning on bugging them every so often, lol.

I travel through it when traveling to the in-laws. I’m in Howell. I think we talked before, about lingenfelter C&C? If so, I Didn’t realize you were so close!

Ahhh, gotcha. I’m fairly sure we did. But yeah! There’s a few Oppos down in the Royal Oak area too, I think.

I’ll have to make a post, during the weekdays, to see where the Michigan oppos are.

I know K-roll, Yamahog, and Travis are somewhere in the Royal Oak area. Dunno where everyone else is though

Yeah I just started at MSU, lots of fun

I appreciate all the info, that is great! I wouldn’t have to live in new hudson, that’s just where the job is, so somewhere around with low crime, good schools, and decent houses would be awesome.
![]() 09/04/2016 at 15:21 |

Yep; I’ve met Travis, yamahog, MontegoMan, and another guy who I havent seen in a while. I had to travel an hour east to meet any of them though.

Nice, I hear some of the Rich kids have nice cars. I keep seeing G-Wagens when I go.

One of the upperclassmen said they say a kid with a P1 on campus

I can empathize with that. Every weekday I travel 40-50 minutes to Lansing for work.
Not sure about the around town safety, but in the farm/wooded area it’s pretty good. The previous owner of our house lived years without locking the doors apparently. This was a problem when they couldn’t find the keys to one of the doors, lol. Of course, our house is a tad hidden and off the beaten path. But I leave stuff outside and it doesn't get stolen.

Kid probably doesn't deserve it, but then again, where else would I get to see one in real life? Lol.

You’re exactly right. My friend said the kid smokes in it...I’m cringing just thinking about that.

Jokes on him, that’ll affect the resale value!
Side note, I can appreciate a kid buying his own car, and it being a beater, more than a parent buying the kid a car. My parents lent me there extra car, did not appreciate it or take care of it. It wasn't until I bought my first car and had to pay the bills for it, thatch finally appreciated what I had.

I understand that. I had a lot of help with buying my first car from my parents, but with all the stuff that ended up going wrong I learned how to take care of it, pay the bills, and appreciate it. I wish I had it with me up here.

That’s right, freshmen don’t get to bring a car.
When I got my first car, I admittedly paid way too much for it. But I paid the monthly bills for it. I also used my parents insurance, since I didn’t have my own; but again, I paid for it out of my own paycheck. I still have the car, a ‘08 pt cruiser (yes, I know, but I didn’t know about cars back then). Its currently at my in laws, to get a newly flashed pcm since its current one is dead. :/.
Funny enough, one of my personal life goals was to own two cars. Didn’t require that both were operational at the same time, just two cars, lol.

Same! I paid too much for my ‘03 Corolla, but I set myself up to help pay the bills because my sister also bought her car in the same purchase (so it was more expensive then we originally thought it would be). I didn’t know too much about buying cars obviously, but everything worked out. Currently my car should be sitting in my parent’s driveway but they like my car so I couldn’t tell you.
I also hope to own more then one car someday, maybe an everyday car and then a sports car on weekends, like a 370Z or a Camaro or something.

The second car, a ‘07 Grand Prix, was suppose to be a commuter car. When the pt died and was too pricey to fix. The prix became the every day car. Lol

Yeah if anything major breaks on my Corolla again it’ll be too expensive to fix, which means I would have to share with my siblings...and result in the death of me.

That's how I ended up buying my first car. My brother kept borrowing the only other car, so I just went out and bought my own.

Nice! I was planning on buying my own car no matter what because my sister and I can’t seem to share, but everything worked out.
